Position Title: Senior Manager- Social Media
Reporting to: Executive Producer, Digital
Location: New York/Miami
Salary: Ranging in High $70’s based on Experience
The Senior Social Media Manager is responsible for accelerating social media efforts across company’s media properties including Cable TV, Interactive (Online, Mobile), and emerging digital platforms. The Sr. Social Media Manager will be responsible for the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives, including developing and managing social media campaigns, creating and supervising high-profile channel accounts, curating user-generated content and integrating social media into overall business strategy. The Sr. Manager is tasked with expanding company’s social media capabilities and leading the strategy and integration of social in all of company’s priority properties, including daily/weekly news, politics, and lifestyle programming, major news events, and other corporate initiatives.
•Develop strategy for day to day and special coverage for planned and breaking news – including but not limited to social content ideas, leveraging social tools and staffing
•Develop social editorial calendar to align programming, interactive and corporate initiatives with social and prioritize activities accordingly
•Execute and optimize social efforts for Newscasts, Online, News Shows, and news department driven community initiatives like politics and lifestyle.
•Ensure that plans are in place for breaking news or programming changes, and are creating engagement and driving traffic across social properties
•Stay aware of trending topics, trends, research and social news gathering information to leverage accordingly for company’s content
•Responsible for using data and analytics to report, resolve questions, evaluate effectiveness of social media activities and apply potential improvements (e.g., Omniture, Comscore, Nielsen, etc.)
•Responsible for driving content engagement and traffic via social networks
•Regularly meet with editors, producers and reporters to continually adjust and develop day to day strategy
•Develop style guides to find and maintain a written communication that is consistent within the different social communities.
•Exercise excellent editorial skills, news judgment, digital media training, and proficient technical skills
particular to managing web content.
•Act as a subject matter expert and effectively communicate/advocate the importance of social media throughout the organization
•Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working for a broadcasting company, digital agency or media company including 5+ years working in the social media environment
•Demonstrated experience creating strategies which result in high impact business results and community engagement
•Active social presence with a deep understanding of the ecosystem on various social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, YouTube, Foursquare, etc.
•Experience using community management platforms including Hootsuite, and Tweetdeck
•Strong understanding of television and journalism.
•Passionate and knowledgeable about current and new
emerging platforms and tools •People oriented – team player; ability to coordinate cross functionally
•Excellent creative communication skills – oral and written
•Highly organized and detailed oriented
•Substantial news project experience required
•Video production experience a plus
•Cultural empathy with the millennial demographic and our majority US/Hispanic audience
•Bilingual (Spanish, English) preferred
